This year, we celebrated a very Pinterest-y Valentine's Day. I've become quite the addict and find it so incredibly fun to find all sorts of crafts and recipes to share with friends and family.
We started looking forward to Valentine's Day on the 4th with a countdown to the big day. For some reason, Jeffrey has always taken to Valentine's Day and loves the idea of being my valentine. We counted down with this "10 Things I Love About You".
So each morning we pulled off a heart and throughout the days we would talk about all the things. Jeffrey LOVED this. He would ask in the evenings, "Has it been a whole 'nother day yet? Can we pull off a new heart?" He had all the reasons memorized and would even ask me to go back over to the cupboard to read them again and again.
When Seth and Jana came over the Sunday before, I made two Valentine S'mores related desserts for everyone. Both were greatly enjoyed and Jeffrey and I had a lot of fun making them. (They don't look that great but they were YUMMY!)
Monday night, Jeffrey and I made Oreo Pops and candy coated marshmallows for me to take to work with me. He decorated all of the marshmallows and sprinkled the Oreos. I LOVE that he loves to bake with me and I thought they turned out so great.
Jeremiah had the kids on Valentine's Day and they had a fun day at home. He tricked Jeffrey into thinking he was going to Maryn's and had him all ready and instead of going there, they went and got hot chocolates from Dutch and looked for trains. They were able to get a photo shoot in (Valentine's tradition) and my sweet boy looked like this:
I so love that they do this for me each year.
I left work as quickly as possible and went home to pick up Jeffrey for a little date. We went to Dutch (again) where this time he got to have a GROWN UP smoothie (3 cans of food = free drink!). He was quite excited.
We then went back to get the girl and to go visit my grandparents. We brought them some of the treats we had made and spent some time with them before they went down to dinner. I'm sad I didn't get any pictures of this visit.
Jeffrey wanted to go look around a toy store but remembered that at Goodwill the toys are "out of the box". This is very exciting and he asked to go there. So off we went and spent about 45 minutes just playing with all of the cool and interesting finds. Jeffrey was most excited about this "space bug" and a motorized car he could scoot around in.
I also found a couple of really nice sweatshirts for Juliet while I was there for a total of $2.58! Woohoo!
We got home late and Jeffrey opened his card from me. One of our favorite books is "Guess How Much I Love You" and we always say "THIIIIIS Much" and try to stretch as far as we can. So when I saw this idea (have I mentioned how much I LOVE Pinterest?!?!) I had to make it as his card. He LOVED it and said, "Woah. That's a lot". Perfect.
Jeremiah brought home dinner for us and we had a late dinner at home. It was a very fun day and I can't wait until next year to do it all over again.
